Celebrating Mother’s Day During the Pandemic
by Michael Dattolico on May 01, 2021
For some of us, this year has brought unduly challenges such as not being able to see our family. Namely, our mothers. With COVID-19, distances became further, health concerns grew deeper, and cautions grew higher. For others, our mothers provided us shelter during these tough times. Whether it’s moving back home from school, staying home for a job that went virtual to save rent, or even sheltering after being laid off, mothers have always provided the safe haven needed even as we grow through adulthood. To those of you who have lost your mother in the past year, we want to share our deepest condolences.
In 2021, coming together when we have been forced apart is a major way in which we can heal. While some of us still cannot come together physically, we can still send our love even over long distances. This Mother’s Day is special because we are not only celebrating her, her love, her sacrifices, and her life, we are also celebrating how important that bond is and what it has done to help us through the pandemic. Take a moment to make it special. Take a moment to make it about her.
